Rotation Types
There are many ways to learn with Cascadia Pharmacy Group.
IPPE – Community Practice
Gain hands-on experience in a patient-centered, independent pharmacy setting. Students will work with experienced pharmacists and staff to develop skills in medication counseling, prescription processing, and OTC recommendations. This comprehensive rotation emphasizes foundational knowledge of commonly prescribed medications, alongside training in pharmacy operations, inventory management, and regulatory compliance.
APPE – Community Practice (core):
This advanced rotation builds on IPPE experiences, providing comprehensive training in an independent pharmacy setting. Under preceptor guidance, students refine skills in medication counseling, clinical assessment, vaccine administration, and pharmacy operations. Emphasizing leadership development, the rotation includes direct patient care, team collaboration, and business management exposure, preparing students for confident, autonomous practice in community pharmacy.
APPE – Ambulatory/Clinical (core):
This rotation immerses students in clinical pharmacy practice, focusing on patient care, medication therapy management, and chronic disease support. Students engage in counseling, wellness programs, and interprofessional collaboration while refining clinical documentation and quality improvement skills. They gain valuable insight into the expanding role of pharmacists in ambulatory care settings.
APPE- Compounding (elective)
This rotation offers comprehensive training in sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical compounding. Students work with experienced pharmacists to master advanced preparation techniques. Emphasizing hands-on experience, it covers specialized equipment, quality control, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance, while also building skills in patient consultation and inventory management.
APPE- Management/Ownership (elective)
This rotation develops the business and leadership skills needed for pharmacy management and ownership. Students gain hands-on experience in business operations, workflow optimization, clinical program implementation, and strategic planning. Emphasizing staff development and project management, it prepares students for future leadership roles in pharmacy management and ownership.
APPE- Administration CPG (remote)
This remote rotation offers comprehensive exposure to pharmacy administration with Cascadia Pharmacy Group’s leadership team, overseeing 40+ pharmacies. Students participate in virtual meetings, policy development, and strategic projects while enhancing leadership, collaboration, and administrative skills. Engaging with marketing, store owners, and insurers, students also refine remote work capabilities through training, and project work.
