Overview
The NCPA Foundation Disaster Relief Fund provides financial assistance to independently owned community pharmacies affected by disasters or catastrophic events.
Who Can Apply
Eligible Organizations
- Independently owned community pharmacies in the United States (all 50 states, District of Columbia, and U.S. territories)
- Both NCPA members and non-members may apply
- NCPA members receive priority consideration
Eligible Disasters & Events
Natural Disasters:
- Hurricanes
- Earthquakes
- Wildfires
- Floods
- Tornadoes
- Typhoons
- Cyclones
- Tsunamis
Catastrophic Events:
- Property damage from civil unrest
- Property damage from terrorist attacks
Case-by-Case Review:
- Pandemic-related closures
- Water crises
- Chemical spills
- Other unforeseen catastrophes
Ineligible Situations
- Damage from criminal activity (burglary, robbery, etc.)
- Preventable losses (maintenance issues, equipment malfunction, technological problems)
- Business interruptions due to illness not related to a qualifying catastrophe
Application Process
Step 1: Submit Your Application
- Apply online: ncpaf.awardsplatform.com
- Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the recovery period
- Deadlines may be established depending on disaster severity
Step 2: Gather Required Documentation
You will need to provide:
Photographic evidence:
- Photos showing damage to the pharmacy
Business loss documentation:
- For pandemic, water crisis, or chemical spill claims: evidence of business loss or impact
Step 3: Application Review
- NCPA Foundation reviews applications for eligibility and completeness
- Grant awards are determined based on:
- Severity of impact
- Pharmacy’s role in the community
- Proposed use of funds for relief, recovery, or resilience efforts
Step 4: Receive Funding
- Grant amounts vary based on individual circumstances
- Funds may be partnered with other disaster relief organizations
Important Timing Information
- You can apply up to two years following a disaster if your business operations are still in recovery
- Clear and timely communication regarding funding decisions is prioritized
Post-Grant Requirements
Grant Reporting
- Submit a short report within 6 months outlining:
- How grant funds were used
- Impact on the pharmacy and community
- Demographic information is only collected during application—not required for final reporting
Unclaimed Funds
- Uncashed checks may be subject to stop-payment after a period agreed upon by the Foundation board
- Pharmacies will be notified if funds are returned
